So, I alluded to deciding whether or not I wanted to take advantage of an opportunity that was presented to me in December of last year. (I totally am overlooking the post that I made reference to this, so just trust I mentioned it on the blog. :))
In any event, I was selected to serve as Ms. DC Exquisite 2013! I will go on to compete in the Exquisite International Pageant in August. I am very excited to participate as the Exquisite Pageant focuses more on encouraging women of all ethnicities, shapes, and ages AND community service. I wanted to participate in this pageant for a number of reasons. One, who doesn’t like dressing up? Two, I get to have a platform (“Silent No More: Giving a Voice to Survivors of Domestic Violence”) and hopefully will work with an organization that I learned of in 2012 and am really anxious to volunteer more. I’ve already set up a Facebook fan page AND a Twitter account! 🙂 You can find the page on Facebook under Ms. DC Exquisite 2013 and on Twitter at @MsDCExq2013.
A blog will be coming soon to follow my reign as Ms. DC Exqusite, so I’ll be sure to share that with my SGITC family! Once everything is finalized about the crowning ceremony, which will be Sunday, May 19, 2013 in DC, I’ll share that on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to visit me there! I’m really stoked that I can share my Southern charm in such a fulfilling way! And I can look good doing it! 😉 Until next time, I’m just a Southern girl…in the city!
