I haven’t blogged in awhile, not for lack of not wanting to. I’ve just been doing some self-reflection, soul searching, and taking care of other people.
I came out of my hibernation to implore you all to vote tomorrow, if you have not already early voted. To women and minorities, it’s been less than 100 years since we’ve had the right to vote in this country. So there’s no reason WHY you should not vote. People marched, protested, and others died to have this basic human liberty given to us that some people take for granted. Don’t think your voice doesn’t matter and that your vote doesn’t count. I can assure you it does.
As important as the presidential election is, your local elections are even MORE important. The people that get elected to your local offices are the ones that decide how local money is spent regarding education, transportation, and some even decide state laws.
You have less than 24 hours to become an informed and educated voter. Use your time wisely. Until next time, I’m just a Southern Girl…in the city!
Preach on!
I like the points that you make concerning the local elections. People get so caught up in the presidential race that they forget issues that affect them closer to home entirely.
