I was a sophmore at Florida A&M University.  It was a little after 9 am on a Tuesday, and I had just walked into the Student Government office.  When I walked in, everyone had paused and was staring at tv, not watching but staring.  There’s definitely a difference.  What I saw shocked…and caused me to stare, too.  A plane had hit one of the Twin Towers.  I was stunned, shocked, and thought it was a practical joke.  I couldn’t have been further from the truth. 

On this day, we commemorate and remember those lives that were lost during the attack on 9/11.  As someone who lives in DC, I’m cautious, but not overly so.  I just pray and hope that you all stay safe today, especially those of us in the NY and DC areas.  Don’t forget the fallen.   Until next time, I’m just a Southern girl…in the city.
