VOTE 2010

Now that we have all had our fun frolicking around our cities, dressing up in cute costumes, and eating all the candy our hearts desire, (and getting back from Tallahassee if you went to FAMU’s Homecoming),  it’s time to get back to reality.   One of the most important days is tomorrow; that’s right November 2, also known as mid-term elections.  Most states are voting for Governor and others are voting for Local, State, and National representatives. 

I never set out to make this blog my personal soapbox for political issues (which I may re-consider), but as a Political Science major, I would be doing ALL of my readers an injustice if I didn’t at least mention/implore you all to go vote, if you haven’t already done so.   I will say that if you want to continue on the path of restoration, progression, and equality for all, you should know which candidates on  your ballot will accomplish those goals. But if you want to see our country go back to the last years of a recent administration, the gap widen between the rich and the poor, and basically modern day slavery become legal, you know which candidates on your ballot support those.   Don’t just be a complainer; it’s so easy to say what’s wrong and not have a solution or not do anything about it.  Are you tired of the unemployment rate and jobs not being created?  Go vote.  Are you tired of not having healthcare (or having crappy healthcare)?  Go vote.  Are you sick of the status quo?  Go VOTE!  Are you ready to see positive changes in your community?  GO VOTE!!!

So, the floor is yours.  Just because I won’t get on a soapbox doesn’t mean  you can’t.  If you would like to share who you’re voting for and why, you may do so here.  If not, that’s fine.  Just make sure you go vote tomorrow.  The polls are open early in the morning until late at night.  Just for the record, I’m going during my lunch hour.  Until next time, I’m just a Southern girl…in the city!
