This was a BUSY weekend for Benevole, Inc.!!!! I am so happy to be a part of a great organization that focuses on giving back. In case you missed my previous post, Benevole, a new non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, aims to be the bridge between the benefactor and the beneficiary. Benevole had it’s inaugural event this Saturday, Walk-A-Mile in Someone Else’s Shoes, and it was amazing.
Supporters and friends of co-founders Jason Smith* and George L. Slaughter were able to come to Hotel Rouge on Saturday night and enjoy great company, good food, and specialty drinks, all for a good cause. The event was well attended, and it’s safe to say all in attendance had a great time. Two representatives from N Street Village, which was the beneficiary of the proceeds from Saturday’s event, were able to come and mingle with patrons as well as share important information about the great works going on at this non-profit social services organization for women. Before the night was over, Benevole, Inc. presented a check for $1,000 to N Street Village. Jason and George were ecstatic with the outcome and the support from friends.
It’s always a blessing to be able to help others, and the attendees at Saturday’s event were able to do so in style. Stay tuned for more activities and opportunites to give coming from Benevole, Inc. I can tell you next year’s event is already scheduled for October 1, 2011, so get ready! If you would like more information, would like to contact anyone, or to make a donation at Benevole, visit the website here. Until next time, I’m just a Southern girl…in the city!
