I woke up this morning feeling a little nostalgic, so I decided to do a little reminiscing! On today’s Way Back Wednesday, I’ll go back to some great music that was around when I was growing up.
First, I must start with Aaliyah, who was tragically killed in a plane crash on this date 9 years ago. From her first album, I changed the lyrics to “Who is the L-I-Y-A-H?” to fit my name from the song “Back and Forth”. My favorite Aaliyah song is “We Need a Resolution”. Enjoy the video!
Next up, my favorite female group during the ’90’s is oft forgotten “Total”. I LOVED them and still jam to their last album. The day I kissed my little high school boyfriend for the first time, “Kissing You” came on the radio, so that song had a special place in my heart for a little while; now…not so much. In any event, my fave song from their last studio album, “Kima, Keisha, and Pam” is “I Tried”. Too bad there’s no video, but I think you’ll enjoy “What About Us”, a classic from the “Soul Food” soundtrack, just the same!
Lastly, every young girl LOVED 112, and I was no exception. I still jam to them every chance I get. Slim was the man every young girl had a crush on, but I loved Q. “Cupid” was…my…jam! I loved this song during a time that I didn’t do love songs. (I was a little non-romantic back in the day.) But 112 got me out of my funk with this ballad.
I hope you enjoyed “Way Back Wednesday”! What were some of your fave songs back in the day? I’ll try to bring you a little bit of something from back in the day each Wednesday. If you have anything you would like to see, let me know! Until next time, I’m just a Southern girl…in the city!
Stumbled upon your website via bing the other day and absolutely think its great. Keep up the fantastic work.
Thank you so much!!! If I can ask, what search did you do on Bing that brought you here?
